National Mesium of Australia
The multi-award-winning National Museum of Australia in Canberra is devoted to telling great stories about Australia and Australians. Bringing together the diverse themes of Australia’s land, nation and people, the Museum celebrates Australian social history through its rich collection of rare historical artifacts, as well as the compelling personal stories of both ordinary and extraordinary Australians. As custodians of the National Historical Collection — comprising more than 200,000 historical and Indigenous objects — the Museum’s photographs of collection objects included in Picture Australia represent a small percentage of the total number of objects collected on behalf of the nation. The Museum has five permanent exhibitions that bring together Australia’s stories, each presented with state-of-the-art technology and hands-on interactive exhibitions. From the First Australians gallery, which features the histories and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, through to Nation, an exhibition of all things uniquely Australian, the Museum has something for everyone.
