National Zoo & Aquarium

Canberra’s National Zoo & Aquarium offers one of the most amazing animal experiences in Australia – the opportunity to have hands-on contact, pat and play with one of these amazing cats. During your Meet A Cheetah experience, you will be in the same enclosure as the cheetahs. At all times an experienced zookeeper will be with you to answer your questions and guide you as you interact with this incredible animal. Here at the National Zoo and Aquarium, their Education Department aims to offer enriching, interactive and hands-on experiences that will enable people of all ages to be inspired and encouraged to assist in the creation of a more balanced and positive future between humans and the natural world. The Zoo offers a variety of programs that offer both thrills and hands-on learning experiences. From a school excursion to a birthday party, the NZA can offer a unique experience for young and old. Zoocation offers a unique experience for primary aged children. During a fun-filled day, children will get up close and personal with many of the zoo’s animals, play games, make toys for the animals, and maybe even learn something along the way. Zoocation Junior especially designed for children in Kindergarten and Year One. It is targeted to the younger animal lover with smaller groups and age-appropriate activities.
